Simon's approach to defending clients
After over 25 years' experience, Simon now practices criminal defence in a manner which sets him apart from some of his fellow practitioners. Simon's approach to practice is characterised nowadays by:
- A caseload kept deliberately small, allowing ample time for discussion with clients, clear focus and meticulous preparation
- A focus on serious cases (bearing in mind however that seriousness can also be defined in terms of the potential impact of even a "minor" charge on the client)
- The time and ability to defend long and complex cases
- The determination to avoid publicity, based on the conviction that, in a criminal case, publicity is almost always good for the lawyer, and almost always bad for the client!
